The Waterway Top Load Filter with Bypass Valve, 502-2510 is made to mount in a niche with the top accessible from above the spa and the main body located beneath the spa's shell. In order to protect the filter cartridge from harm, this Top Load filter has a bypass valve that opens when the water pressure is high. This filter is perfect for spas with two-speed pumps. When the pump is operating at a low speed, the water is completely filtered, but when the pump is operating at a fast speed—which also prevents pressure loss in the massage jets—the valve opens to allow some of the water to flow without filtration.
